Empire explores themes of family, loyalty, betrayal, and the power of money. This fast-paced and enthralling show has quickly become quite popular. Up until recently, you had to have cable to enjoy Empire full episodes – but thankfully, that’s no longer the case. Today, you can enjoy Empire streaming without a cable subscription – and we’re here to show you how!
Catch Empire Live Stream with Sling TV
Currently, Sling TV is one of the best ways to watch Empire online. For those unfamiliar with the service, Sling TV offers packages of TV channels starting at $20 a month for 30+ channels. Recently, Sling has added FOX to their lineup, which means you can watch Empire with Sling! Sling TV works on a wide variety of devices, including computers, streaming players and mobile phones.
Right now, live FOX availability on Sling TV is limited to certain TV markets. Subscribers in select cities will be able to access FOX live, while everyone (nationwide) will be able to watch FOX shows on-demand next day. So, depending on where you are, you may need to wait for an on-demand replay in order to enjoy Empire – or you may be able to watch live.
If you’re considering Sling, check out our review for full details. If you’re ready to sign up, make sure you take advantage of one of the many killer deals they have going on right now. For starters, anyone can try Sling FREE for a full week with their free trial offer. Secondly, T-Mobile subscribers can get an exclusive 30% discount, bringing the bill down to just $14 a month. And finally, anyone signing up for 3 months or more of Sling TV can get a free Roku 2 streaming player.
Watch Empire Online with Hulu
For most people, Hulu provides the best way to watch Empire full episodes online. Subscribers of Hulu will be able to catch up on every episode of Empire while waiting for the new season to return. New episodes will be added to the Hulu library 8 days after they air live on TV. So, while Hulu doesn’t provide a true Empire live stream, you’ll be able to watch every episode on-demand for a much cheaper price than cable.
Hulu has several packages available. The basic package is just $7.99 a month, and has limited ads during programming. For $11.99 a month, you can subscribe to the ad-free version – which is worth it for most people. Either way, you’ll get access to the entire Hulu library, which contains Empire and hundreds of other hit shows.
Hulu works on just about every popular streaming device – smart TV’s, Roku, Chromecast, PS4/Xbox One, iOS devices, Android phones, and more. You can watch from anywhere with an internet connection, so there’s no need to pay for an expensive cable subscription! You can read more in our Hulu review.

For $30 a month, you’ll get access to 50+ popular cable channels – including Fox. And since Empire airs on Fox, Vue will let you watch Empire live stream without a cable subscription. There’s a free trial available, giving you a good way to watch Empire online free.
Vue is rapidly expanding, and is now available nationwide. While it’s a bit more expensive than Sling TV, it does offer more channels. Initially, Vue was only available on PlayStation devices, but it’s now available on Amazon Fire devices, as well as Chromecast. More devices are expected to be added as Vue expands. Watch Empire Live with Antenna + DVR
If you have a digital antenna, you can actually watch Empire for free! How? Well, Empire airs on Fox, and Fox happens to be an over-the-air channel. This means you can access free Empire streaming without a cable subscription!
In order to watch the show live, all you need is an HD antenna. Don’t have one? We recommend checking out our guide to choosing the best TV antenna for more info.
For added convenience, use a DVR to record the show. That way, you can watch at your own convenience. You can even fast forward through those pesky commercials! If you want a high-quality DVR, go with the Tablo HD. In addition to basic DVR functionality, the Tablo lets you stream from your DVR to your other devices, letting you watch on-the-go.
Buy Empire Full Episodes Individually
If you’d prefer to just catch an episode here and there, you can use a service like Amazon Instant Video. You can use Amazon Instant to buy full episodes of Empire for $2.99 each. This is a good option for some people, but obviously, it adds up fast if you want to watch every episode. Sometimes Amazon will offer discounted season passes for the whole season.
Vudu works in pretty much the same way as Amazon. They sell single episodes of Empire for $3 each. You can also use iTunes to do the same thing.
